Summer Special Program 2008*
This year, we have a variety of special programs to enjoy the summer.
Take a look at the schedule below, or download PDF file from here.
Please note that meeting place/time for each program is different.
Come back to us often for further details or changes which may occur.
While we do not run our usual nursery during the summer, childrens are
welcome
to most of our special programs.
May 17: Trip to the New York Botanical Garden (Coordinator: Irina, Michiyo, Natalie, Susanne, Yoko):
You are invited to come with us to the New York Botanical Garden.
eRound-the-World Women intend to provide free entrance for all of their members
participating in this program. The registration must be returned by April 29.
June 10: Chatfield Hollow State Park (Coordinator: Jennie):
We will meet at 11 am at the park entrance and take a gentle walk around
the lake, or a more strenuous trail walk (by choice). Afterwards we will
have a picnic (bring your own sandwich) on the beach.
June 24: Pardee Rose Garden and Greenhouses (Coordinator: Natalie):
We will meet at 10 am at the garden entrance and will have the possibility
to enjoy an array of flowers, featuring a fine display of roses. We may
also have a picnic in the garden.
July 8: Beach Meeting at Liz Lowe's house
(Coordinator: Anna):
Liz invites us to have our traditional summer break meeting
at her home in Branford. We will meet at 10 am at her home located at the
beach.
July 29: Lunch at Hammonnasset Beach (Coordinator: Susanne):
We will meet at 11:30 a.m. at Lenny & Joe's Fish Tale restaurant and take-out in Madison. Here we can either get some delicious food to take along with us to Hammonasset State Park or if you prefer, you can of course also bring your own lunch. From Lenny & Joe's, we will carpool.
August 5: Craft Circle (Coordinator: Irina):
Irina would like to work with you on different projects, e.g. wreaths, cross-stitching or maybe you have an idea? The meeting will take place at the church.
August 12 (rain date will be August 13): Coffee at Coordinator's beach house (Coordinator: Anna):
Anna invites us for coffee and cake to her summer residence.

Guided tour of the First Baptist Church. Do you want to know more about our
meeting place the gFirst Baptist Churchh? Then join us for a guided tour of
the church where Jeanne Emerson will tell us interesting details about the
church.

| February 5 |
Sushi. You will be able to watch the preparation of Sushi and may you try rolling
one by yourself. Afterwards enjoy a delicious sample!

Add-on Program
on Wednesday,
February 6 |
Scrapbooking Workshop. Irina will help
you to make your own scrapbook (pages) and will show you how to arrange your
pictures on the page, draw characters and embellish pages by using different materials. This program is from 10:00 to 12:00AM. No nursery service is available for this program. |

Valentinefs
Day! We will prepare a sweet treat for your special
Valentine, wrap it and even add a handmade card. |
| Februrary 19 |
Yabusame. Lecture on one
of the most interesting traditional Japanese ceremony in which they show a high
technique of the Japanese style archery, where a warrior shoots arrows from a
running horse. . |

Coffee and Cake at Coordinatorfs house. Ulrika invites us to her home in Guilford.Let's get to know each other better
while chatting and having cake and coffee in a homey environment. Children
are welcome to join!. |
| March 4 |
Introduction to First Aid. When did you think about First Aid the last time? Come and see a First Aid demonstration performed by an experienced first aider of the American Red Cross. The demonstration shows how to handle slight injury with bandage, slings, etc.

Digital Photography. In this introductory class you will learn how to transfer digital images
from your camera to your computer and how you can process and use them
in different ways. |

Russian
Easter. Today we will decorate wooden eggs, using
traditional Russian Orthodox patterns and your imagination while hearing about
Russian Easter traditions.. |

New Havenfs Art Galleries. Today we will visit the Yale University Art Gallery or the Yale Center for British Art; both have an
outstanding collection of paintings and sculptures

April 1 |
Absolute favorite destinations. This is your opportunity to
share your absolutely beloved spot, destination or leisure activity with the
rest of us. Many of our members are new to the country or area and would be
happy to learn about some of the areafs best kept secrets. If you would like to do a short
presentation (5 to 10 minutes) on one of your favorites please e-mail or call
Susanne. |
| April 8 |
Peruvian Taste. Come and enjoy food and music from one of the South America's Countries:
Peru. Our Peruvian Member is going to
prepare a little sample of Peruvian food. Come, take a look how to cook it, and
taste it! |

You are invited to a walking tour of the historic Grove Street Cemetery in New Haven, which is the first chartered
burial ground in the United States and the final resting place for
many notable people in both Yale and U.S. history. |

Celebrate spring with Cherry
blossoms on Wooster Square. Gather together in the loveliest of Elm City settings; we will treat you to a
slice of the famous pizza while you enjoy looking at the blossoms. Children
are welcome to join! |
| April 29 |
Motherfs Day. Join us for creating a candle as a
Motherfs Day gift for your Mom, Grandmother, sister ... We also will make a
nice card by ourselves. |
| May 6 |
Nearby State Parks and other places. Natalie will arouse your curiosity
for Connecticutfs State Parks, and maybe you have other nice ideas for the
summer? Also we will have a retrospect of our RWW Program and collect suggestions for
the 2008/2009 program.

Annual Spring Luncheon. Please join us for this delicious
'RWW tradition in a festive setting.
While feasting on marvelous food we say 'goodbye' for the summer and to members
who go back to their country. (This is the last meeting before the summer
break!) |
